In Muncie, we work hard. But when the emails are sent and the to-do list is finally crossed off, we know how to unwind. For some of us, that means a cold brew in hand, food on the table, and good company.
Each bar has its own unique personality, and most are locally owned, so they’re run by people who know your name (or will by your second visit). Here’s a list of ten different bars you should stop at during your next visit.
On any given weekend, you’ll find a mix of regulars, first-timers, and live music fans filling Elm Street Brewing Co. It’s a laid-back brewpub with a cool, no-pressure vibe making it the kind of place where you can hang for hours without realizing it.
Their craft beer list is stacked, so if you’re indecisive (no judgment), grab a flight of their house brews and figure out your favorite. And when it comes to food, you’ll absolutely want to order the fried pickles. Pair them with a pizza or sandwich and call it a night well spent.

If your night calls for something a little elevated, Adams Street Chophouse delivers. It’s more upscale so it’s perfect for date night or when you just want a cocktail done right.
A good cocktail is paramount when you’re settling in for a great meal, and the same can be said for the atmosphere here. There’s even a tucked-away 21+ speakeasy section with jazzy tunes for a shift in the mood.

Is the game on? Head to 1925 PubHouse. This downtown Muncie spot is a go-to for game days and casual nights out, just minutes from Ball State’s campus.
TVs line the walls, smashburgers hit the table, and seasonal drinks rotate in and out. You can grab a seat at the bar just to catch the game and a quick bite or settle in for trivia night and stay awhile. The bartenders know their stuff and will steer you in the right direction if you’re stuck between options. Family-friendly, patio included—it checks a lot of boxes.

Ron Lahody’s Trust Your Butcher Steakhouse & Butcher’s Lounge
Recently opened next to the longtime favorite steakhouse, the Butcher’s Lounge at Lahody’s adds a classy new option to Muncie’s bar scene. You can still order food from the restaurant (and trust us, you’ll want the steak), but the star of the show might just be the bourbon list. Don’t miss the smoked Old Fashioned, a fan favorite that adds a little flair to the classic cocktail.
Locals will tell you the service is what keeps them coming back. “They never let my drink go empty” isn’t just a compliment, it’s pretty standard here. Come for dinner and stay for a nightcap or just swing in for the bourbon. Don’t be surprised if you end up on a first-name basis with the bartenders.

Four Day Ray is a local Yorktown favorite for a reason. It works for almost any crowd from families and friends to coworkers catching up after work.
The Blood Orange Blonde and Blueberry Blonde are crowd-pleasers, but if you’re the type who likes to try a little of everything, order a flight. They rotate limited releases so pop in to try something new seasonally. Fair prices and a rewards program for frequent guests don’t hurt either. Add pizza, TVs, and a patio that fills up fast on nice days, and you’ve got your next weekend plan set.

This pub is one of Muncie’s favorite bars with a unique medieval vibe. The beer selection is extensive (take your time choosing), and Bruce’s Pizza inside makes it easy to stay longer than you planned. It’s perfect for a low-key night out with friends to play card games over a couple of pints. It’s its own kind of wonderful.

RoHo’s Martini Bar is one of the newest additions to Muncie’s nightlife lineup, and it’s quickly carved out its place. The lounge’s speakeasy-style vibe pairs perfectly with signature martinis like the Seasonal 75 and Café Agave. They also offer a variety of zero-proof cocktails, so everyone can find a drink they love.
Beyond the cocktails, there’s always something happening—live music, karaoke, comedy nights, even game tournaments. Add charcuterie boards to share, and it’s a strong pick for date night or girls’ night out.

Seeking the true BSU student experience? Roots Burger Bar in The Village is where you’ll feel it. Close to campus, with a bar top and tables, TVs, and trivia nights, it brings that classic college-town energy.
The creative burgers are also the star here, and you’ll absolutely want to try one.

Tucked inside MadJax Maker Space, Guardian Brewing Co. has an industrial vibe that fits perfectly with its independent craft spirit. It’s a microbrewery with a solid range of IPAs, ales, and sours including local favorites like the Neon Viking and 765 Lager.
The flight is the move if you’re new. Pair it with one of their unique pizzas or subs, grab a pool cue, and make an afternoon of it. It’s open for lunch, which makes it a great “let’s try somewhere different” spot during the week. On warmer days, the garage opens to a patio outside.

Savage’s Ale House leans fully into its dive bar status, and that’s exactly why people love it. It’s 21+ only, the prices are reasonable, and there’s a pool table if you’re up for a game.
You’ll find American pub food, plenty of beer and ale options if that’s how you roll, and a crowd that feels genuinely local. It was named “Best Hole in the Wall Restaurant” in Indiana in 2025, in the best way possible. If you’re looking for something unpretentious and familiar, this place is calling your name.
