DESCRIPTION:Kevin Campbell: The Puzzle Project features puzzle piece groupings that the artist cuts from plywood and paints individually. Each grouping has a place in a much larger puzzle that could be assembled if all the pieces were brought together. \nThe Puzzle Project is a work of art that has no edge\, and so it can be added onto and ‘grow’ indefinitely. This exhibit will be anchored by a composite image showing what the entire puzzle would look like if it were fully assembled. \nThroughout the evening\, Campbell will be on hand to engage with viewers and answer questions. Light refreshments will be served\, and the public is invited to attend. \nAll of the puzzle groupings are expressions of the interconnectedness of the natural world. Each individual piece is “inherently part of something larger than itself\,” says Campbell\, speaking about the idea that has driven his art for decades. “As it grows\, pieces and groups of pieces are separated and treated as individual works of art.” \nThese groups will be hung and for sale in the Gordy gallery. Those who own a piece of the Puzzle Project will forever have a place in the larger composition. \n“Works of art are often referred to as ‘pieces of art\,’” says Gordy owner Carl Schafer. “For Kevin Campbell\, this is literally true. He is making only one work of art that has many pieces. Campbell has placed no boundaries on his single work of art. It can continue forever and each piece will always have its place.”

Illustrating is also an act of witnessing: images compel us to notice and investigate\, and at their best\, they shed light on and at the same time critically confront the subjects they engage with.”\n—Nora Krug \nAward-winning artist Nora Krug’s powerful graphic memoir\, Belonging: A German Reckons With History and Home\, and her more recent book publication\, an illustrated edition of Yale historian Timothy Snyder’s On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century\, are the focus of an exhibition at the David Owsley Museum of Art. Each book takes inspiration from the artist’s personal experiences as well as the events of history through engagement with deep topical research\, museum artifacts and flea market finds\, vintage photography\, oral histories\, and personal conversations\, with the goal of trying to understand\, reckon with\, and depict the past in order to take something revelatory and useful away from it. \nThe exhibition was organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge\, MA\, and curated by Stephanie Haboush Plunkett\, Chief Curator.

When the The Big Game gets cancelled\, a group of intrepid weirdos decides to throw an epic DIY costume party—a ball! Balls Balls Balls is a strange and exuberant new work that asks\, “Can you imagine a world where we all make bread and break bread together?” \nWritten by award-winning playwright Alice Tuan\, Balls Balls Balls was commissioned by the Ball State Department of Theatre and Dance. SUMMARY:Blueprints for Bahay-Bahayan - An Artist Talk with Cheeny Celebrado-Royer
DESCRIPTION:The School of Art invites you to an artist talk with Cheeny Celebrado-Royer as part of our Visiting Artists and Designers series! This talk is free and open to all. \nCheeny Celebrado-Royer (b. Naga City\, Philippines) is a multidisciplinary artist working with found and discarded materials to create installations\, sculptures\, and drawings that explore precarity\, memory\, and displacement. Drawing from decaying architectures and chroma-key aesthetics\, she maps fragments of space—wreckage\, green or blue tape—into constellations of unstable time and place. Her work reimagines drawing as a form of mapping\, assembling familiar-yet-elusive icons into landscapes shaped by liminality. Through building from residue\, she explores what might resemble home—transient\, cartographic\, unresolved. \nShe is currently a studio fellow in the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program and serves as an Associate Professor in Experimental and Foundation Studies at the Rhode Island School of Design. She holds an MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (Mount Royal School of Art). Her work has been exhibited at institutions including the Baltimore Museum of Art\, the Walters Art Museum\, Brattleboro Museum and Art Center\, Columbia College\, Louisiana Tech University School of Design\, and the RISD Museum.

Main\nGordy Fine Art & Framing Company to present an exhibition of Kevin Campbell’s Puzzle Project\, Thursday February 5\, 5 – 8 pm. \nGordy Fine Art & Framing Company will open Kevin Campbell: The Puzzle Project\, Thursday February 5\, 5 – 8 pm\, featuring groupings of puzzle pieces that the artist cuts from plywood and paints individually.  Each grouping has a place in a much larger puzzle that could be assembled if all the pieces were brought together.  The Puzzle Project is a work of art that has no edge and so it can be added onto and ‘grow’ indefinitely.  The exhibit will be anchored by a composite image showing what the entire puzzle would look like if it were fully assembled.  Throughout the evening\, Campbell will be on hand to engage with viewers and answer questions. Light refreshments will be served\, and the public is invited to attend. \nAt 6:15 Campbell will speak about the project and how it has evolved since he began in 1994. \nAll of the puzzle groupings are expressions of the interconnectedness of the natural world.  Each individual piece is “inherently part of something larger than itself\,” says Campbell\, speaking about the idea that has driven his art for decades.  “As it grows\, pieces and groups of pieces are separated and treated as individual works of art.”  These groups will be hung and for sale in the Gordy gallery.  Those who own a piece of the Puzzle Project will forever have a place in the larger composition. \n“Works of art are often referred to as ‘pieces of art\,’” says Gordy owner Carl Schafer.  “For Kevin Campbell this is literally true.  He is making only one work of art that has many pieces. Campbell has placed no boundaries on his single work of art.  It can continue forever and each piece will always have its place.” \nThe exhibit will be on view with works for sale in the gallery through March 28\, 2026. \nGordy Fine Art and Framing Company promotes talented artists\, provides appraisals\, enlarges and digitally restores photographs restores antique frames\, and offers expert design and craftsmanship for framing and displaying treasured family possessions and works of art. Gonzalez. \nThe Ned and Gloria Griner Art Gallery\n____________________________\nJanuary 7 to 29\, 2026\nExhibition Reception\, Gallery Talk and Art Performance: January 7\, 4 to 6 p.m. \nAbout the Artist\nJohn C. Gonzalez is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans installation\, sculpture\, painting\, performance\, writing\, music\, game design\, and socially engaged projects. Deeply collaborative in nature\, his work often blurs the lines between artist\, viewer\, and participant\, challenging conventional notions of authorship and production. Gonzalez frequently partners with individuals or institutions not traditionally associated with artmaking to create pieces that reflect shared labor\, conversation\, and experience. These conversations result in works that are as much about the process and relationships as they are about the final product. Through his ongoing exploration of labor\, cooperation\, and institutional critique\, Gonzalez’s practice offers a reflective and often playful lens on the social systems that shape artistic and everyday life. Whether building systems that critique their own fabrication\, facilitating game-based art experiences\, or searching for meaning in collective action\, he consistently seeks to expand the role of the artist beyond the studio and into the shared spaces of work\, play\, and community. Gonzalez lives in Rhode Island and teaches drawing and game design at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence\, RI. \nThe exhibition Checkpoint: Interactive Artworks & Experimental Play will include several interactive and game-adjacent artworks in the galleries. Various sizes $55 to $35. \nSue fell in love with clay during a class at Gordy Art Mart. She continues her growth as a potter learning from John Peterson. \nColorful ceramic plates with glass lined bottoms made by Marty Price. Marty is a retired Wapahani teacher and peach farmer. He has been working in clay for more than 40 years. Various sizes $8 to $18 \nFarm Scenes by Paul Laseau (1937-2025)\nLast two Paul Laseau paintings remaining at Gordy. Paul was professor at Ball State University’s College of Architecture and Planning for more than 30 years. He held numerous workshops nationwide on design communication\, freehand drawing\, visual notes\, and the role of digital media in design communication. \nOne of a handful of nationally recognized authors in the field of design communication\, Laseau authored several books including\, “Graphic Thinking for Architects and Designers”\, “Visual Notes”\, “Graphic Problem Solving”\, and “Freehand Sketching”\, many of which are still in use at universities today. \nAfter retiring\, Laseau became an accomplished watercolor artist\, with several shows throughout the Midwest as well as self-published collections of paintings.

In addition to the 1st Thursday downtown event\, and the Holiday Gift Market. \nAll parade entries need to be lit or glowing. Line up at City Hall starting at 4:30pm. Parade pulls out at 5:15-5:30pm and will go down Walnut to the roundabout by Canan Commons. Parade participants may disperse at that point or park behind the convention center/parking garage and attend the Light Up Muncie festivities! \n\n\n
