DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a program of all Romantic-era music\, featuring works by leading composers of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries\, including Felix Mendelssohn\, Gabriel Fauré\, Johannes Brahms\, Sir Arthur Sullivan (of Gilbert & Sullivan fame)\, Charles Villiers Stanford\, Claude Debussy\, and two iconic works from the Russian Orthodox sacred tradition by Mikhael Ippolitov-Ivanov and Sergei Rachmaninoff. The Brahms selections come from his famous Liebeslieder Waltzes for choir and 4-hand piano accompaniment\, which will be played by Stacey Edwards and LeeArron Klosterman. \nTickets available through the College of Fine Arts Box Office located at Sursa Hall\, online at bsu.tix.com\, or by phone at 765-285-8749. \nParking is available in the McKinley Parking Garage (entrance on Ashland Avenue) located immediately south of Sursa Hall. Illustrating is also an act of witnessing: images compel us to notice and investigate\, and at their best\, they shed light on and at the same time critically confront the subjects they engage with.”\n—Nora Krug \nAward-winning artist Nora Krug’s powerful graphic memoir\, Belonging: A German Reckons With History and Home\, and her more recent book publication\, an illustrated edition of Yale historian Timothy Snyder’s On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century\, are the focus of an exhibition at the David Owsley Museum of Art. Each book takes inspiration from the artist’s personal experiences as well as the events of history through engagement with deep topical research\, museum artifacts and flea market finds\, vintage photography\, oral histories\, and personal conversations\, with the goal of trying to understand\, reckon with\, and depict the past in order to take something revelatory and useful away from it. \nThe exhibition was organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge\, MA\, and curated by Stephanie Haboush Plunkett\, Chief Curator.

DESCRIPTION:Solas is hailed by The Boston Globe as “the finest Celtic ensemble this country has ever produced” and The Wall Street Journal as “an Irish traditional band bearing all the marks of greatness.” \nSince forming in New York City in 1995 they have been a galvanizing element in the Irish music scene – a lightening rod of talent and inspiration that set new standards for musicianship\, repertoire\, and intensity. Over the course of twelve critically acclaimed albums and endless international touring\, Solas brought their love and respect for the traditions of Irish music\, and their sense of melodic and instrumental adventure to the world. \nIn 2017\, after a remarkable two decade career\, Solas decided it was time for a break. Now\, after eight years\, the break is over and Solas is back and ready to celebrate their 30th Anniversary! The musical adventure continues in 2025.
